Jannal oram Songs Review

Ennadi Ennadi

Singers: Tipu, Vishal

Lyrics: Yugabharathi

The album quite fittingly starts with cranking of the bus engine. Dialogues interspersed basically highlighting the bus’s encounters on the road and it also helps affirm that the song is about romanticizing the countryside. The highly original melodies are typical of Vidyasagar and so are the interludes.

Aasa Vecha

Singers: Abirami, Haricharan, Priya Hemesh, Priyadarshini, Tipu, Velmurugan

Lyrics: Yugabharathi

The sensual and honey laced vocals from Priya Hemesh sets up the tune perfectly before the chorus join in on the action and enhance it. The main melody has an addictive ring to it while the rest of the song has an organic flow about it, even during its beat filled passages.

Yela Mala

Singers: Anuradha Sriram, Velmurugan

Lyrics: Yugabharathi

A slow pathos number that features Anuradha Sriram and Velmurugan - not the kind of track one would generally associate with the two singers, but this infact turns out to be a master stroke from the composer as both the crooners are able to emote impeccably and tune their singing styles to sound haunting.

Unna Paakama

Singers: Abirami, Haricharan, Sicily

Lyrics: Yugabharathi

A mid tempo tune that’s got some catchy moments laid over a steady yet flowing drum beat. The vocal melody is rather simple and direct but the composer manages to make it even more engaging by intelligently orchestrating the exchanges between the male and female singers. A pleasant tune overall with equally enjoyable instrumental interludes.

Athili Puthili

Singers: Aishwarya, Aravindh, Aslitha, Harish, K.Lakshman, Rishi

Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Right from the intro where the kids are trying to mime the starting of an engine the agenda is set to be playful. But it’s not all fun and games as the kids put up a highly professional performance with their harmonies and annotations. The rhythm is groovy and the mood light.

Verdict: A joyride indeed !
